WHY OWN SUPER STAR TRAP MACHINES?
1. THEY WILL THROW LEGAL ATA TARGETS.
2. NO
MODIFICATION TO THE TRAP HOUSE.
Automatic trap machine are expensive
enough without having to rebuild and modify a existing trap house.
3. ELECTRO
MAGNETIC SOLENOID TARGET RELEASE.
Similar to the hand set, the throwing
arm is held back by magnetic solenoid but has no moving parts. The GMV
throwing arm is waiting to be released by the solenoid, not the push of
the cocking motor. No need to change the timing to create a slow pull to keep the
cocking motor trap from wind milling the trap by throwing an occasional un
wanted extra target.
4. 560 TARGETS FIT
INTO THE TURRET WHEN IT IS LEVEL FULL.
Shooting full squads of doubles, 50 pairs,
100 per trap, it is important that you have the larger target capacity. If
your voice release is left on, during changes, or if the shooters visit between
post or shots, the trap will have more than enough extra targets to compete the
event without running out of targets due to extra pairs thrown. With
the extra targets always remaining in the machine, loading on the go can begin
with the following squad takes to the line. No need to wait for a loader
to refill between squads and delay the event due to the fact the machine ran
empty.
5. THE ENTIRE
TRAP MACHINE IS ON THE PEDESTAL.
If a rain storm should flood your
trap houses or you have seasonal moisture issues, it is best that complete trap
machine is above the floor. Hydraulics and moisture do not mix. With
the entire machine on the pedestal it rests above the water line, broken
targets, dirt, and card board from the clay bird boxes.
6. THE GMV HAS A CENTER
HOLE.
There is a pin, or a bolt like the
Western old hand sets to "center hole" the machine for singles target setting and for
doubles shooting. For setting singles, the machine is center holed so the
wind age can be set, to throw the targets level and straight out of the trap
house. When shooting doubles, the machine is center holed and cannot move
from the center hole during operation. Once the doubles fields are set
they will remain set and the field will not shift due to heat or hydraulic
seepage past a seal, or spool to valve body clearances.
7.
INFINITE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS.
Similar to the old Western hand sets,
the GMV uses a fine threaded height adjustment turn buckle for setting target
height. The GMV fine threaded turn buckle can be set and any adjustment
for perfect target height and presentation where as the old hand sets where a
half turn increments.
8. THE GMV HAS
AN ACTUAL TWO HOLE FOR SINGLES.
Once the GMV is center holed for wind
age, for a straight and level singles target flight, during target setting, the
trap is then put into an actual two hole. The machine will oscillate and
interrupt. The GMV oscillates all the time, not just while cocking. Any official or club management can see that the traps are set
in the two hole so flights and angles issues are all ended. The two hole
compliance can be seen with out having to climb in the trap house because the
oscillation turret is visible at the front of the GMV.
9. SHIMS ARE
USED TO ADD TENSION TO THE MAIN SPRING FOR DOUBLES.
Four sizes of horseshoe shaped shims
are used to add spring main spring for doubles targets. Instead of cranking a spring,
a lever is provided to add a shim for adding more power to the main spring.
The shim adding lever can be removed from the trap house and retained by club
management to end any unauthorized tampering with the machines by others. From out side
the trap house, club management, target setting can see what shim is being used
with out counting turns on a crank. This feature is a big help when
multiples of target setters are used to change over the events from singles to
doubles, because you can visually see how much power is added to the machines to
keep all the fields even. Shims are used under the valve springs of the
most fine tuned engines on earth today for example, so it is not a new
idea or a new application.
10. TARGET
CAROUSEL CAN BE SPUN.
If the machine is not being loaded on
the go, the target carousel can be spun for easy filling from any position
inside the trap house. Full stacks of 15 targets can be slid in to
the carousel at once for a fast refill of the machine.
11. WIND AGE
ADJUSTMENT.
Similar to the hand set trap machine
the GMV uses a wind age adjustment device that is incorporated with the hole
settings on the oscillation turret. Simply pull up a spring loaded pin and
choose one of 12 holes for setting the wind age. This is twice as many
selections as the old Western hand sets. This can also be viewed with out climbing
into the trap house another added benefit when keeping all your trap ranges set
equally. This wind age is used for both singles and doubles setting.
12. ADJUSTABLE RAIL
ELIMINATES THE FINGER.
A crank adjustment moves the targets
up and down the throwing arm for leveling doubles, for example. Again this
adjustment is infinite, instead of notches like on the Western hand set machines.
13. ALL WEATHER OPERATION.
No preparations are required for
summer to below zero operations. No need to buy heaters, heat tape,
insulation, or waist electricity for a warm up before operation. Turn on a
GMV and throw targets.
14. NO EXTRA TARGETS THROWN.
The GMV has a simple rotating plate
is used do determine if the machine is to throw singles, doubles or no
targets. The no target setting is for filling and rotating the target
carousel. In this position there is no hole open for a bird to get to the
elevators. For single targets the rotating plate has one hole open for the
bird to be lowered down to the throwing arm. Only one clay bird can fit
through the hole. For Doubles, the rotating plate is turn so two holes are
exposed over the elevators. Only while the GMV is set on doubles can two
birds get to the throwing arms. The GMV doesn't have to rely on springs,
o-rings, levers and wheels to keep doubles being thrown while shooting singles.
15. Safety.
When ever the GMV is shut off, it
will release the throwing arm to an un-cocked position. This will also
relieve tension off the main spring.
16. Height
The GMV trap as more height
adjustment then the Western hand set trap. During doubles setting of the
Western hand set, usually the trap's height adjustment turn buckle was turned
all the way up. Some clubs added shims to the front of the hand sets to
get more height. If there was a strong tail wind the only way to get the
doubles targets in the air was to add more spring to the hand set trap.
The GMV height adjustment has a lot more travel then the hand set so more spring
is usually not needed to get the targets up to an acceptable height with a
strong wind to your back.
